Peek into my garden!

Though not a biggie, I grow aroung 30 shurbs, 3 veggies, 3 climbers, 3 trees and some medicinal herbs.


The Shrubs

Hibiscus

Hibiscus is the mostly found plant in my garden. There are about 7 types hibiscus of different colours and shapes in the garden.

Rose

Roses are the sybol of love and Beauty. Growing it is as difficult as yo could think of it! I have 2 types of roses, one locally called as “Panneer rose” with an heavenly smell and the other is the “Queen of flowers”, the Red Rose.

Ixora

Locally called the “Idly poo”, as it resembles the fluffy dish, Ixora is a delight for the bees. Its got a lot of nectar and is a treat to the eyes. But the shrub is easily infested and need a lot of care.


The Herbs

Basil

The tulsi is a holy plant in India. It is respected greatly and is often given to us during cough and colds. A tulsi plant grew to a height of 7 feet in our garden!

Oregano

Frankly speaking, I never knew this plant to be the oregano. It was here for a long time and we all hated it as it was made into a medicine for cold and cough! It is called as “Omavalli”.


The Veggies

Chillies

Did you know that chillis is fruit of plants from the Capsicum family? And also are xmembers of the Solanaceae family. There are many varieties of chilli plants, some of which are the hottest peppers known.

Tomato

Tomatoes are long-growing, heat-seeking, sun lovers! These warm-season plants do not tolerate frost. The days to harvest depends on the cultivar, but the days to maturity ranges from 60 days to more than 80 days.

Brinjal

The brinjal, which is commonly known as the eggplant or aubergine in the western world, is closely related to tomatoes and potatoes as it lies in the same Solanum family.

Palak

Palak is an Indian term for Spinach. Indian Spinach or palak is not genetically modified and is a lot softer and tender with smaller leaves.


The Climbers

Beetel

This leaf is well kmowm for beedas, but also is a traditional gift to the visitors of the house. It grows on its own, but dont pluck a lot of them, It suddenly stops growing!

Money Plant

This is the center of attraction in our garden. This climber adorns our sunshade like a wreath also grows along the neem tree. The leaves are as long as our hands and are an awe striking decorators.


The Trees

Neem

The tree is now 10 years old and stands high housing scores of birds and giving us shade. The tree chills the surroundings and the cool breeze 🍃 generates is ❤

Banana

The banana tree was planted probably in 1990 by my grandparents👨‍🦳👩‍🦳, and still grows at its best! Though it gives more leaves than the bananas.
